March Movie Nite: "Green Book"

Green Book:  Green Book is a 2018 American biographical comedy-drama film set in 1962.  The film is inspired by the true story of a tour of the Deep South by African-American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley (played by Mahershala Ali) and Italian-American bouncer Tony Vallelonga (played by Viggo Mortensen) who served as Shirley's driver and bodyguard.

The film is named after The Negro Motorist Green Book, a mid-20th century guidebook for African-American travelers written by Victor Hugo Green, to help them find motels and restaurants that would accept them.

Green Book won the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Ali). Mortensen was also nominated for Best Actor. The film also won the Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture– Musical or Comedy.
