The Banshees of Inisherin

The Banshees Of Inisherin is  a 2022 Drama Comedy set in Ireland.  It is an intense, melancholy, and often hilarious story with a somber undercurrent that offers viewers a variety of depths to analyze.

The movie received a total of nine Academy Award nominations, including nods for Best Picture and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, Colin Farrell, as well as two nominations for Best Supporting Actors for Gleeson and Barry Keoghan.

At the tail end of the Irish Civil War in 1923, on a remote and fictional Irish isle of Inisherin, folk musician Colm Doherty abruptly begins ignoring his lifelong friend and drinking buddy Pádraic Súilleabháin. Pádraic, though nice and well liked by the islanders, is too "dull" for Colm, who wishes to spend the remainder of his life composing music and doing things for which he will be remembered.  Pádraic's life is destabilised by the loss of one of his few friends; as Pádraic grows increasingly distressed at the rejection,

With help from his sister and a troubled young islander, Pádraic sets out to repair the damaged relationship by any means necessary. However, as Colm's resolve only strengthens, he soon delivers an ultimatum that leads to shocking consequences.
